Auditions
|
Auditions for all twirling positions will take place on April 10, 2010. High school seniors, current Purdue students, transfer students, and graduate students are welcome to audition.
In all cases mentioned above, admittance to Purdue University as an academic student is required prior to auditioning. There are two segments of the audition process.
- The first segment is a video audition. Interested candidates should submit a DVD along with a full resume (not limited to twirling) to the Director of Bands by January 15th in order to be considered for the spring audition. The DVD should include three different routines that showcase the candidate's performance talents. At least one routine should be in front of a live audience.
- The second segment is a live audition at Purdue in the spring. Based on the video audition, the Director of Bands and Twirling Coach will invite finalists to come to campus for a live audition. This audition includes a 64-count strut, a 2 1/2 minute freestyle, a standing routine to "Hail Purdue," and a personal interview with the band staff. Upon completion of the audition process, the judges discuss and make final decisions after the live audition. These decisions are then shared with each candidate by the Director of Bands. Each selected twirler will be asked to complete a Statement of Commitment. By signing this Statement, each twirler gives her full intention of attending Purdue the following fall and fulfilling her position for the entire year. In order to register for an audition, contact the Twirling Coach or complete and submit the "Contact Us" form on this website.
We are always looking for talented twirlers and hope to see many of you as Boilermakers!
