About Us

The Golduster Dance Team has a deeply-rooted history due to its connection with the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band. The dancers have gone through many changes over the years. A few of these changes include choosing a smaller team and developing more technical ability.

The Golduster Dance Team is an entertainment-based ensemble. The dancers perform alongside the "All-American" Marching Band at all home football games, one annual away football game, and at postseason bowl games. A typical football game day consists of an early practice, a pep rally performance before the game, a stadium pregame performance, the halftime feature, a postgame performance, and a final show in front of Hovde Hall. Thus, the ladies keep themselves busy! Along with dancing at the various performances that occur at the home football games, the Goldusters also perform sideline dance routines on the field during the game. The Golduster Dance Team is completely involved in the Purdue football atmosphere.

Football games, however, are not the only performance venue in which the girls partake. The Goldusters can also be seen regularly performing at halftimes at various home men’s and women’s Purdue basketball games in Mackey Arena. Some additional performances that have involved the Goldusters within the past several years include: the Parade of Roses, the Capital One Bowl Parade in Florida, the Twirl Mania Parade at Walt Disney World, NBA Indiana Pacers games, local high schools, stage performances, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Indianapolis 500 Parade and Race. There are many performance outlets that involve the Golduster Dance Team, be it for entertainment or competition purposes.

Members of the team are required to attend all performances and practices. During the fall, the Goldusters practice alongside the "All-American" Marching Band five days a week for two hours and one extra technique practice during the week as well. In the spring, practices are three mornings a week for two hours each practice. Practices always consist of learning or cleaning the weekly performance routine, conditioning, and perfecting technique. During the fall, the team displays a variety of styles, including pom, kickline, jazz, and character/thematic routines. In the spring, the style of dance is pom, a little hip hop and jazz with a greater focus on technique.

Involvement as a member of the Golduster Dance Team is a fun way to entertain through a love of dance. It is also a great way to meet new friends who share a similar passion. All members of the team also earn academic credit for their work. If you are interested in joining the team, please refer to the “Contact Us” section. We hope to hear from you soon!
